NYSPHSAA tournament scores for wildcard berths
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association introduced wildcard berths to its football tournament in 2019 to fill out certain quarterfinal brackets. Here is how they have fared:
2019 (Section 3 vs. Section 1 opponents) 2020 (no tournament due to pandemic)
2021 (Section 1 vs. Sections 7 and 9)
2022 (Section 5 vs. Section 2)
Class D, Alexander
2023 (Section 2 vs. Section 1)
2024 (Section 4 vs. Section 9) 2025 (Section 9 vs. Section 2) 2026 (Section 6 vs. Section 1) * -- In 2022, Section 5 split its Class A field into two tournaments, with both winners advancing to the NYSPHSAA quarterfinals, one as the Section 5 representative and one as the wildcard.
